The Top 100 Players

Friday, 27th January 2012

Using a computerised formula Elite Sports News is able to generate a player points Projector for Dream Team & SuperCoach using a series of objective criteria against numerical historical data. Some of the objective criteria are short & long term form, strength of opponent & home/away short & long term form to name a few. These projections are estimated to be at least 20% more accurate than merely relying on season averages. (This is based on our 2011 projected results & the 2011 season averages in testing)

Elite Sports News has put no subjectivety into the rankings of these players. It is purely based on what the projection software thinks.

Note the Price rise/fall estimations are formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula

*The Projection software does not know about injury, pre-season form or role changes. Its a software program to make sure you never overlook anybody. It has no feelings or bias towards teams or players. Please use it as a research tool to come to your own conclusions, rather than use it as fact.

Comments: He is a 2011 consistency king. Only one other in the AFL was a more consistent Dream Team scorer than this man himself. Add on top of that, in 5 seasons he has only missed 1 single game! That’s 109 games out of a possible 110 games. Unbelievable! In 2011 he broke out and became 110+ average superstar. What are you waiting for? With all the headache of injuries, suspensions and underperforming premiums. Here is someone who won't have any of these issues. He will just pump out scores for you.

Comments: The projector has him at $150K undervalued for the season. It’s a dangerous move for a player over 30 coming off of a knee reconstruction, but we don't think its reckless. Opportunities like this don't come up often! He is a potential top 10 playmaker for $380K. News coming out of pre-season is that he is getting close to full speed and training with the main group. Hayes is a Nick Riewoldt. A professional. We have no doubt he has completed all the recovery work 1000 times over. A new coached free flowing St Kilda is the game plan.

Comments: Moving up & playing a role in the midfield dramatically helped his scoring in 2011. Will he need to help carry the load again? Potentially. Not to mention he is an exceptional athlete. He can create so much with so little space. He is still only 28 . He has more years left in the tank. He will play until after 30. We think his upside is limited. He will likely average around the 100-110 average which is what you are paying for him.

Comments: A huge breakout player in 2011. This guy can accumulate points! He is in and under like his Mentor Simon Black. This always guarantees him points from tackling averaging a huge 7.5 a game last season. He has so much potential, and his team will only improve in 2012. Simon Black is in his final year and needs help. Redden is the man for the job. Look for another strong season. It's hard to stop the Redden, Black, and Lenny Hayes types from getting the ball when their specialty is in and under.

Comments: Priddis is coming into the prime window of his career at 26 years. He has two of the best tap ruckmen in the league tapping it down his throat. To be honest, the opposition have more to worry about with the likes of Lecras, Kerr, Embley, Shuey, Naitanui & even Gaff coming more onto the scene in 2012. Priddis doesn't have the best kick inside 50 in his team, but Dream Team doesn't care about that!

Comments: Soft tissue injuries are Chapman's downfall. At 30, he is entering the twilight of his career. He is still Geelong's barometer across half forward. We actually thought he was a little disappointing in 2011 with an average of 101 a game. He has averaged over 100 in 5 of his past 6 seasons and we may have seen the last of his 115 average seasons, but he is still a solid fantasy forward to have in your team.

Comments: Franklin's upside is irresistible. His talents are beyond anything a top line shutdown defender can stop in the AFL. His side is a top 4 proposition and the Hawks use the ball better by foot than any other team by far. He has spectacular delivery. So what's the problem? He is injury prone and he does get suspended, but they come with the package as it does with G Ablett's injuries. Heading into the season at 24, you might be disappointed he was not in your team from Round 1, when you watch his highlight reel on Sports Tonight.

Comments: We can't believe he played 14 games in 2011 with an average of 102 a game! We think its because we associate his name with underperforming finals. He missed 6 matches last year with a broken foot but returned successfully. He simply didn't perform on the big stage in the most important month of the year. He is only young. Expect him to push hard to prove his worth in 2012.

Comments: Stepped up to his circa 2008 season last year. He was an absolute monster with many relying on him as Captain. We think that 2011 was as good as it gets though. Lower your expectations to ensure you're not disappointed. The projector has him falling away this season. Historically Geelong should have fallen away last year as well, and then they won the flag again! Cox is still a top flight Ruck option, but be happy if it's 100+.

Comments: Moving on from his horror 2010 injury swamped season, last year he showed signs of his best football. He is past 115+ average seasons though. You need to move on from this. Do we think he can average 100 a game as the projector is suggesting? No we don't to be honest. He only scored 7 centuries for the entire 22 rounds last year. This is a risky proposition which is advisable to stay away from. He is turning 30 this year.
