The Top 100 Players

Friday, 27th January 2012

Using a computerised formula Elite Sports News is able to generate a player points Projector for Dream Team & SuperCoach using a series of objective criteria against numerical historical data. Some of the objective criteria are short & long term form, strength of opponent & home/away short & long term form to name a few. These projections are estimated to be at least 20% more accurate than merely relying on season averages. (This is based on our 2011 projected results & the 2011 season averages in testing)

Elite Sports News has put no subjectivety into the rankings of these players. It is purely based on what the projection software thinks.

Note the Price rise/fall estimations are formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula

*The Projection software does not know about injury, pre-season form or role changes. Its a software program to make sure you never overlook anybody. It has no feelings or bias towards teams or players. Please use it as a research tool to come to your own conclusions, rather than use it as fact.

Comments: Judd had a sensational season last year but enters 2012 under an injury cloud with a shoulder issue. It is noted the injury is only minor and is already training with the main group. even with the breakout of Marc Murphy last year, he still didn't have any movement in his average. Upside is thinning as he approaches 28 years but you know what you will get with him.

Comments: The most consistent player in SuperCoach last year. Priddis is coming into the prime window of his career at 26 years. He has two of the best tap ruckmen in the league tapping it down his throat. To be honest, the opposition have more to worry about with the likes of Lecras, Kerr, Embley, Shuey, Naitanui & even Gaff coming more onto the scene in 2012. Priddis doesn't have the best kick inside 50 in his team, but wins a lot of the ball and is an important member of the West Coast Eagles.

Comments: What happened last year? His SuperCoach average fell off the planet by 22 points a game! He was a monumental flop. He did get back on track later in the season but the damage was already done. Having said that, this year with Gibbs as a midfielder, he is probably the best premium defender in the league and is at least a little cheaper to begin with than last year. Watters is expected to speed up the St Kilda game plan. This is surely going to help Goddard.

Comments: Feel confident with Mitchell. Consistent, reliable and captain material. He is the general of the midfield and carves out possessions every week . An incredible consistency rating and has been a very durable player over the years. The Hawks will be flying in 2012, and no doubt will snatch a top 4 spot without too many issues. Lets hope they are not all rested again before finals.

Comments: Always gets his tackles, which leads in part to him always getting his points. He is having a huge pre-season and has finals on his mind. His average has climbed each season over the past few years and is extremely durable playing 22 games every season. He ended 2011 in some serious form. We just need him to turn those quiet games he has from 70s in to 90s and then you have yourself a very handy premium.

Comments: Franklin's upside is irresistible. His talents are beyond anything a top line shutdown defender can stop in the AFL. His side is a top 4 proposition and the Hawks use the ball better by foot than any other team by far. He has spectacular delivery. So what's the problem? He is injury prone and he does get suspended, but they come with the package as it does with G Ablett's injuries. Heading into the season at 24, you might be disappointed he was not in your team from Round 1, when you watch his highlight reel on Sports Tonight.

Comments: Turning 32 in 2012, he is a key position player, which gives you hope that he can stick around. Lets not forget he is also still the engine room in the Swans midfield. In 2011 whenever times were tough and they needed a spark in the 4th quarter, Goodes would be in the guts. He is a prolific ball winner, a strong marker and a goal kicker. We have no reason to believe he can't continue on in 2012 and give you the same averages he gave in previous seasons. He mentioned that his pre-season campaigns get easier and easier as the years go by. Wow! You normally hear the opposite from the veterans.

Comments: Yao Ming continued to get injured during his NBA basketball career measuring in at 7ft6. Sandilands is not far off this height. Ming continued to have lower leg injuries, knee issues, ankle issues etc, until his eventual early recent retirement. It was just too much weight and strain put on the body. It couldn't' take it. Sandilands was out for 6-8 weeks and was eventually shutdown last season due to turf toe. We worry that he may have trouble staying on the park, however, he is hugely explosive in fantasy land.

Comments: The Jobe train fell away mid season with injuries, and it seems people have forgotten his early season dominance! Jobe Watson is ESN's hot pickup. The Jobe Train is the 2012, 105 to 120 jump average player. As it was with Pendlebury '11, Boyd '10, etc. Its Watson's time. In 7 games before his injury he averaged 120. Get on board.

Comments: The Crows have a very user friendly draw in 2012. They play both Gold Coast & Greater Western Sydney twice and also have a host of other bottom 8 sides to play with. Thompson loves playing in these training drills and even equalled the all time possession record in one game of 53 touches last year against Gold Coast! He could easily become a reliable Captain option, especially against easy oppositions.
