The Top 100 Players

Friday, 27th January 2012

Using a computerised formula Elite Sports News is able to generate a player points Projector for Dream Team & SuperCoach using a series of objective criteria against numerical historical data. Some of the objective criteria are short & long term form, strength of opponent & home/away short & long term form to name a few. These projections are estimated to be at least 20% more accurate than merely relying on season averages. (This is based on our 2011 projected results & the 2011 season averages in testing)

Elite Sports News has put no subjectivety into the rankings of these players. It is purely based on what the projection software thinks.

Note the Price rise/fall estimations are formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula

*The Projection software does not know about injury, pre-season form or role changes. Its a software program to make sure you never overlook anybody. It has no feelings or bias towards teams or players. Please use it as a research tool to come to your own conclusions, rather than use it as fact.

Comments: Leuenberger broke onto the AFL scene in 2011 as a premium Ruck option. We like him a lot. He is 23 years old with huge upside, finishing 2011 with incredibly consistent premium scores. We like him to be pushing for the top spot in fantasy ruck land. Brisbane can only improve and winning sides correlate well for players playing in them. Watch this space.

Comments: Griffen at 25 years is entering the prime of his football career. He fully broke out last year registering 108 a game average. He is a very strong man and is extremely difficult to match up on through the midfield. He can crash packs and push aside opponents with big clearances. His durability is of some concern given his game style. He can be reckless at times, continually putting his body on the line. We wonder if 105-110 a game is his limit.

Comments: His upside is extraordinary. He certainly broke out onto the scene in 2011 as a genuine star of fantasy land. If it wasn't for his fist, he was in talks for the Brownlow. An issue is that he can miss games from suspension or injury, but he plays for the best team in the competition and when he is on song he has no problem sailing past scores above 130.

Comments: Moving up & playing a role in the midfield dramatically helped his scoring in 2011. Will he need to help carry the load again? Potentially. Not to mention he is an exceptional athlete. He can create so much with so little space. He is still only 28 . He has more years left in the tank. He will play until after 30. We think his upside is limited. He will likely average around the 100-110 average which is what you are paying for him.

Comments: He had a very slow start to last season with injury issues, and slowly picked up his game as the season progressed. He is a genuine explosive king and we have little doubt he can average 115-120 a game as he did in 2010. His durability is his issue. He just has so much trouble staying on the park, you just can't rely on him to play a full season.

Comments: Deledio is an All Australian Half Back Flank and with Cotchin & Martin getting the midfield attention, he could become even more valuable than ever. He is a reliable stalwart that you can keep in your defence all season. At 24 years he has the upside to do anything, and 2012 may be his season. He already performs at a very high level. We think he could push up into the 110-115 class.

Comments: Mundy is an intriguing add. There is certainly upside here, and he will be playing for a highly improved side. He was having an excellent break out season last year before injury hit him midway. Don't let that 106 average confuse you. He had a SuperCoach score of 6 points when hit with injury. He is a potential 110+ average midfielder in 2012.

Comments: The little master is one of the best players in the competition to watch. What he can do with such little space is astounding. He is so quick and agile, and his awareness is miraculous, like he has eyes in the back of his head. His upside rivals the best in the business, especially when they start discussing a midfield role. You need to limit your expectations unfortunately due to injury. What he could do though with a full season injury free.

Comments: Stanton finished 2011 in disproportionate fashion. The final 10 regular season games he averaged 109 points a game. He is in line, and if anything just as explosive as the heavyweights above him, however his opposite end is the issue. When he is playing poorly, he hurts you. 60's and 70's are not ok from a $500K+ tiered player.

Comments: Gibbs is no longer a walk up start to your team. He does not have Defence eligibility. It's probably a great decision by the game provider, as it's likely he would have had universal ownership. Meaning not much enjoyment would come out of his season, as your competition would have owned him as well. We are not convinced he can take his game to a 115+ average, unless he is deployed as a full-time midfielder in 2012.
