Top Cash Cows - Gold Coast Suns
Wednesday, 29th February 2012
Our Pre-Season analysis continues looking at Cash Cows in more detail.
Next with the Gold Coast Suns
Any Gold Coast Sun Player priced around $200K or below is in this list and is Ranked based on Cash-Cow potential.
Over the coming few weeks of pre-season we are going to do an analysis on players with value from each club. Rather than just show the Top 40 list in the AFL, we are going to go deeper than that and discuss all the Cash Cow options from each team. We will discuss the players who are unlikely to get a game. The players who may get a game but are more likely to give you peanuts anyway. Our job is to give you the information. Then you can make your own informed decision.
Why do a full analysis on Cash Cows? Let’s face it, they dictate if you win or lose in fantasy land! Anybody can tell you which premiums you should take.
*Please Note the '2012 Mid Season Price Rise' is for Round 10 and is formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula

Comments: In the first week of the NAB Cup, Hall turned heads finishing with 15 possessions, 1 mark, 4 tackles and 2 goals for 74 Dream Team points over both games. He was exceptional. Hall is a pre-selection in last years Pre-Season Draft. He is 21 years old, fast and plays in the Forward lines. He reads the play really well on first glance. Extremely clean with the ball in hand. He even pushed up into the midfield in the second game. Very intriguing.
Cash Cow Potential: Has gone right into consideration after just 1 game. Looks AFL ready. |

Comments: Hunt's pre-season form is looking more like an AFL player than ever before. But in fantasy land, he still finished with an awful line of 11 Dream team points over 2 matches in the opening round of the NAB Cup. A well priced player, playing through the midfield and guaranteed a spot in the Best 22. It sounds good in theory, but he needs to actually get the ball.
To be fair when he did get the ball, he looked terrific. Good decisions and polished skills. He is certainly somebody to monitor for the remainder of the pre-season, to see if he is capable of more. Cash Cow Potential: In Best 22 and playing in midfield, but still quite an expensive proposition. |

Comments: Horsley was drafted as a mature aged recruit in the Rookie Draft last year. At 24, he has played plenty of football in the WAFL over the years. He finished 2nd in the WAFL equivalent to the Brownlow Medal and obviously won his own clubs Best & Fairest as well. A heavily targeted mature aged recruit by many clubs. Gold Coast jumped at the opportunity to get a ready made player on the list.
Horsley went from a strong rebounding half back flanker into a big possession winning midfielder last year in the WAFL. If he plays this year, he will get a mountain of points, playing through the midfield and getting strong tackle numbers. Cash Cow Potential: High upside if he plays, but we have heard no word on his chances of getting games early. He is still rookie listed. |

$89,214.81
Height:

Comments: Sexton would have been in the Top 10 picks of the draft last year if the Gold Coast Suns didn’t use their concessions to take him behind the scenes. Sexton is a very talented player. He won the Alan McLean Medal for the best and fairest player in division two at the Australian under-16 championships last year.
Sexton reads the play particularly well, can play anywhere, wins his own ball and loves to kick a goal. When will he get a game? An unknown. But he will play at some stage in 2012. If he were last year playing for Gold Coast, he would be an instant pick, but they may hold him a bit this year. Cash Cow Potential: In the 1st week of NAB Cup action he didn't fire a shot, but you should certainly continue to monitor across the rest of NAB Cup action. |

Comments: Moss is a rebounding half back flanker with great speed and a strong skill set. He is still young, developing and needing to fill out, but has strong potential. He has been playing for Gold Coast for 3 years now, even in the QAFL before they entered the AFL, but has not debuted as yet.
You would suggest he would be given an opportunity this year at some stage. He is yet to feature in any NAB Cup action. Cash Cow Potential: Another with great potential, but unplayed in NAB Cup to gauge. |

2012 Mid Season Price Fall:
$128,774.00
Height:

Comments: Hine plays as a medium defender who matches up well on different shapes and sizes. He is especially strong in one on one matchups. Last year at lower level, he was a jet. Fantasy scoring like he was Dane Swan in the AFL, but obviously a big step up in class and he needs to earn a spot in the Best 22 for Gold Coast.
Cash Cow Potential: Waiting on a game in NAB Cup to gauge. Impressive background. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$84,265.43
Height:

Weight:

Comments: It's expected that Flanagan will make his debut in 2012 after losing most of 2012 with a hip injury. Flanagan plays across the half back line and has been on a modified program in pre-season. He has been training well but it's unknown if he will be ready come Round 1, let alone being in Best 22.
Cash Cow Potential: Too many question marks at this stage, but some strong NAB Cup form can change that. |

Comments: Patrick featured in several games last year and showed glimpses of his incredible array of skills and explosiveness. There is no doubting the forward is talented, but at this early time in his career also quite inconsistent.
Cash Cow Potential: Has not cemented a spot in the Best 22 and is expensive. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$89,214.81
Height:

Weight:

Comments: Schade is a key position defender in the making. He needs some time to develop further, but is already showing the shutdown type role that is needed. He uses his body well and has a terrific spoil. He is not going to be much of a fantasy scorer and will need to show some class before being given his opportunity with the Gold Coast Suns.
At TAC Cup level last year he played in 2 games representing Tasmania averaging 16 possessions, 4 marks and 3 tackles amassing him 63 Dream Team points a game. In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 10 possessions, 3 marks and 1 tackle leaving him with 35 Dream Team points a game over the 5 game carnival. Cash Cow Potential: Key Position Defender. He does not sound like he will score enough. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$90,312.49
Height:

Weight:

Comments: Magin is a crumbing forward, who got opportunities early last year, but wasn't able to capitalise. He has been busy in the gym over the past few years and put a fair amount of weight on. It's thought he may begin to move into the midfield rotation as he develops.
Cash Cow Potential: Expensive and a fringe Best 22 |
