Top Cash Cows - Hawthorn Hawks

Sunday, 4th March 2012

Our Pre-Season analysis continues looking at Cash Cows in more detail.

Next with the Hawthorn Hawks

Any Hawthorn Hawk Player priced around $200K or below is in this list and is Ranked based on Cash-Cow potential.

Over the coming few weeks of pre-season we are going to do an analysis on players with value from each club. Rather than just show the Top 40 list in the AFL, we are going to go deeper than that and discuss all the Cash Cow options from each team. We will discuss the players who are unlikely to get a game. The players who may get a game but are more likely to give you peanuts anyway. Our job is to give you the information. Then you can make your own informed decision.

Why do a full analysis on Cash Cows? Let’s face it, they dictate if you win or lose in fantasy land! Anybody can tell you which premiums you should take.

*Please Note the '2012 Mid Season Price Rise' is for Round 10 and is formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula

*Hawthorn Hawks - Things may change as we approach the season, but at this stage we do not feel comfortable recommending anybody in the Hawks outfit as a suitable Cash Cow option.

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

Comments: Hill has had an interesting initiation into the AFL, after being drafted by the Hawks he was summoned by the police over a speeding violation. Speaking of speed, that is what he is all about, breaking all kinds of records at the Draft Combine. This kid, brother of Stephen Hill from Fremantle, can seriously move.

In a recent NAB Cup match he finished with 9 possessions, 3 marks, 2 tackles and a goal for 45 Dream Team points in a half of football.

Cash Cow Potential: Huge upside, but doesn't seem likely to break into the side early. He needs to bulk up further.

Comments: Duryea plays in the forward line and has had serious trouble with durability over the years. He is a talented player, with a terrific ball winning ability, but can't seem to stay on the field. He finished up early in 2011, for an operation, to ensure he has a full pre-season.

Cash Cow Potential: If he can stay on the park, he may get an opportunity later in the season, but is still behind Luke Breust.

$100,823.35

Height:

Comments: Frank could become the next Rioli. Amos Frank is an indigenous talent, who has exceptional speed and plays as a small forward. English is his second language, and the Hawks have had to bring in external help for translation.

Cash Cow Potential: Will be pushing hard, but is still developing.

4   Luke Lowden   R   Hawthorn Hawks   $104,200

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

$84,265.43

Height:

Weight:

Comments: Lowden is expected to feature in season 2012. The Ruck option has had an injury riddled few seasons, however, they think he is getting close to making his season debut. His biggest issue has been injuries over the past season, unable to even train back to back days, let along back to back games.

Cash Cow Potential: Seems quite unreliable. We couldn't imagine him getting 7 games to profit enough, nor does he seem likely to play early.

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

$84,265.43

Height:

Weight:

Comments: Schneider is an inside midfielder who is a very similar player to his team mate Sam Mitchell. Schneider averaged 24 possessions game last year playing for Box Hill in the VFL over 14 games.

Cash Cow Potential: He will continue to develop in 2012, but we will unlikely see him. He is still Rookie Listed.

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

$84,265.43

Height:

190.00

Weight:

Comments: Litherland plays as a shutdown defender. He has got great height and his strengths lie in his one on one contests and spoiling. As far as we know these two attributes do not bode well in fantasy land.

Cash Cow Potential: He may get an opportunity at some stage this year, but he is really a future prospect, not to mention shutdown defenders do not score well in fantasy land.

7   Derick Wanganeen   M   Hawthorn Hawks   $104,200

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

$84,265.43

Height:

Weight:

Comments: Wanganeen is a small chance of a senior call up, but as it stands is very unlikely to get named Round 1. Wanganeen is a small crumbing forward. Very exciting and has great pace. He is still in development stage, but was coming on late is the season last year at VFL level.

Cash Cow Potential: Unreliable and not quite ready, but an exciting prospect.

8   Jarrad Boumann   D   Hawthorn Hawks   $104,200

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

$84,265.43

Height:

196.00

Weight:

Comments: Boumann is a strong backup defender, who played with Box Hill in the VFL last year and came 3rd in the Best & Fairest count. He spent 3 years on the Western Bulldogs list before this, and was picked up by Hawthorn as a compensation pick with Greater Western Sydney.

Cash Cow Potential: A backup key position defender. We will unlikely see him this year unless injury hits important players.

9   Will Langford   D   Hawthorn Hawks   $104,200

2011 Games Played: 0

Comments: Langford is a fast defender who played very little football last year with a broken collarbone. Langford has great hands and is incredibly athletic as a medium defender.

Cash Cow Potential: Unreliable and unlikely to score well enough. He is still Rookie Listed.

10   Mitch Hallahan   M   Hawthorn Hawks   $104,200

2011 Games Played: 0
Season Average: 0
Not In Best 22

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

$84,265.43

Height:

Comments: Hallahan plays through the midfield, but had an injury interrupted 2011 campaign. He is an inside ball winner and was drafted mid rounds in the 2010 Draft.

Cash Cow Potential: Will be hoping to stay on the park and play a full season at VFL level. Unlikely to feature in the senior side.
