Top Cash Cows - Richmond Tigers
Monday, 12th March 2012
Our Pre-Season analysis continues looking at Cash Cows in more detail.
Next with the Richmond Tigers
Any Richmond Tiger Player priced around $200K or below is in this list and is Ranked based on Cash-Cow potential.
Over the coming few weeks of pre-season we are going to do an analysis on players with value from each club. Rather than just show the Top 40 list in the AFL, we are going to go deeper than that and discuss all the Cash Cow options from each team. We will discuss the players who are unlikely to get a game. The players who may get a game but are more likely to give you peanuts anyway. Our job is to give you the information. Then you can make your own informed decision.
Why do a full analysis on Cash Cows? Let’s face it, they dictate if you win or lose in fantasy land! Anybody can tell you which premiums you should take.
*Please Note the '2012 Mid Season Price Rise' is for Round 10 and is formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula

Comments: Ellis is a hard working, rebounding half back flanker. He can read the play and does the 1% things that coach’s love. His skills are not particularly exceptional, but are good enough. He has excellent hands and can take a great mark.
At TAC Cup level last year he played in 13 games averaging 23 possessions, 4 marks and 3 tackles amassing him 84 Dream Team points a game. In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 18 possessions, 3 marks and 1 tackle leaving him with 63 Dream Team points a game over the 5 game carnival. Ellis has already been named as a starter for Round 1 of the premiership season, and has even openly discussed being allowed to take kick in duties. Hardwick believes Ellis is playing ''good, hard, tough, footy,'' Ellis is certainly fitting into the Richmond Tigers team with dominant performances in NAB Cup action. Cash Cow Potential: He must be on your radar now. He ticks all the boxes. |

Comments: Morris has been drafted as a mature aged recruit after playing a big season at SANFL last year with West Adelaide. It’s suspected he is in the running for a back pocket role with the Tigers. This is his last chance to make it on the biggest stage and he will throw himself at the opportunity with open arms.
He is tough as nails and we liken his position to that of Nicholas Duigan from Carlton last year. Morris won’t get a ton of it playing in a back pocket, but we suspect he might be good enough for a 50s average on a bench and some reasonable return of money. Cash Cow Potential: Pushing for a Round 1 spot, but pre-season form suggests he is not a huge fantasy scorer. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:

Comments: Webberley at 23, was drafted as a mature aged recruit in 2009. He played in 5 games last year, but was in and out of the team all year and was named as the Sub on many occasions. Webberley has been performing well in pre-season games but is still considered a fringe Best 22 player.
Cash Cow Potential: Interesting proposition fantasy wise, but not in the Best 22, making him quite unreliable. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$89,214.81
Height:
197.00
Weight:
87.00
Comments: Elton is a future potential key forward. He performed quite poorly at the Championships and even at TAC Cup level was not as spectacular last year. If it wasn’t for his Draft Combine results he may not have been drafted. His vertical leap and 20m sprint were exceptional, especially for his height testing in the top 2%. Richmond is hoping that if he is athletically that gifted then they can work with him on the rest.
Elton has been impressing in his first pre-season. He has thrived over recent weeks in an AFL environment. He had a strong first up match in the NAB Cup recently and has been receiving plenty of advice from all the players on the senior list. At TAC Cup level last year he played in 7 games averaging 14 possessions, 7 marks, 6 hitouts, 1 tackle and 1 goal amassing him 73 Dream Team points a game. In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 11 possessions, 4 marks, 5 hitouts and 1 tackle leaving him with 51 Dream Team points a game over the 5 game carnival. Cash Cow Potential: As a key forward, needs more time to develop. |

Height:

Weight:

Comments: Derickx is pushing to take a role up forward and pinch hit in the Ruck. Ivan Maric has all but cemented a spot as the starting Ruck option for Richmond. Derickx is a fringe Best 22 option who needs to perform better up forward to get opportunity.
Cash Cow Potential: Fringe Best 22 who is not a big fantasy player. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$2,402.52
Height:
186.00
Weight:

Comments: Dea has struggled over the past 2 years with stress fractures and shin splints, but has finally completed a full pre-season and looking very likely to play Round 1. He played in 4 of the final 5 games of last year, which has given him confidence heading into 2012, that he is ready to cement a spot in the Tigers best 22.
Cash Cow Potential: Far to unpredictable for his price. |

7 Kelvin Moore D Richmond Tigers $176,200 |

Projected Season Average:

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$100,033.79
Height:
190.00
Weight:
90.00
Comments: Moore had a career best season in 2010, and averaged 59.5DT/70.8SC, but didn't play a game in 2011, having 6 operations on his hip, with his most serious having his hip being cut out and rotated. He is a shutdown defender, who can create when his opponent is quiet, but creating always comes second. If he does in fact return you another career best season, his projected price rise is still not relevant.
Cash Cow Potential: At 27, his upside is thinning and coming off knee reconstruction. Pass. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$89,214.81
Height:
180.00
Weight:
87.00
Comments: Arnot plays across half back and can push into the midfield as well. He has not been given a lot of opportunity in pre-season, named as a Sub and playing a quarter in a recent NAB Cup match.
Last year at TAC Cup level he played in 16 games averaging 19 possessions, 3 marks, and 5 tackles for 83 Dream Team points a game. Cash Cow Potential: Still needs more time to develop, but shows a lot of promise. |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$14,461.19
Height:
195.00
Weight:

Comments: Post has played 14 games in 2 seasons as a key position prospect at both end of the ground. He has not been a big fantasy player over that time, nor played consistently enough to suggest he will play a lot of game time.
Cash Cow Potential: Key position & inconsistent. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 David Astbury D Richmond Tigers $98,900 |

2012 Mid Season Price Rise:
$80,578.23
Height:
195.00
Weight:
92.00
Comments: Astbury is a key defensive player who dislocated his kneecap last year and was shutdown for the season. He has not been sighted in pre-season NAB Cup action so far.
Cash Cow Potential: Was not a big scorer last year as a key position player. |
