Pickups of the Week - Ultimate Footy (Round 3)
Thursday, 12th April 2012
This is based on Ultimate Footy (Points Based) – Dream Team Scoring.
*Note – We discuss Ultimate Footy based on a Standard 10 Team League. (I.e. if a player is ranked 123, then he is a 12th Round Draft pick.)
The Projected Season Average is based on the Software Program. (We actually believe on many occasions, players will outperform this) It is purely objective. The Projection software does not know about injury, pre-season form or role changes. Its a software program to make sure you never overlook anybody. It has no feelings or bias towards teams or players. Please use it as a research tool to come to your own conclusions, rather than use it as fact.
Why are free agent pickups important?
Free Agents are basically Cash Cows for Ultimate Footy. By getting some strong Free Agent picks during the season, it sets you up for the finals and trade bait.
Will all of these Free Agent picks below turn into terrific value picks? No. Of course not. We are just trying to give you some ideas of players who may fit the build of being overlooked. This may help you come up with some good picks yourself.
Please Note: This is not in Free Agent potential order. It is in Projected Dream Team Average Scoring order.
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY PLAYERS OWNED IN LESS THAN 70% OF ULTIMATE FOOTY LEAGUES ARE LISTED BELOW IN PICKUPS OF THE WEEK
11 Josh Drummond D Brisbane Lions $0 |

Projected Season Average:
72.00
% Ownership:
51.00
Comments: Drummond is returning from more injuries as usual. We only list him because of the Defence depth seriously lacking. At lower grade in his rehab so far, he has been a class above and getting plenty of it. He has the calibre to hold you a 75DT average if all his cards fall cleanly. Very little upside in Drummond though.

12 Ryan Bastinac M North Melbourne Kangaroos $0 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|
Projected Season Average:
69.00
% Ownership:
56.00
Comments: Bastinac has just come off of 138DT points in Round 2. It was against GWS you say? It doesn't matter. You pay respect to players who can score that highly, no matter who they play against. That is a huge score and he sitting on the player market. Bastanac is in a contract year and GWS are in fact sniffing about. He is shaping to make a big leap in 2012.

13 Josh Hill F/M West Coast Eagles $0 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 80.5 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
66.00
% Ownership:
59.00
Comments: Hill has taken the half forward role from Mark Lecras and after 2 rounds looks reasonble. West Coast are an excellent side and they will make him disciplined and controlled. Hill could quite easily average 80+ a game this season. Get him if he is available.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 Matthew de Boer F/M Fremantle Dockers $0 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 93.5 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
65.00
% Ownership:
64.00
Comments: De Boer has rocketed out of the gates in the first 2 Rounds. De Boer spent pre-season getting his body ready to play through the midfield. He is ticking all the boxes so far and he is playing for a terrific side. Take him if he is available.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 Claye Beams F/M Brisbane Lions $0 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 70.5 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
64.00
% Ownership:
40.00
Comments: Beams won the Rising Star Award in Round 1, and has slipped under the radar so far, but we think you need more respect. He is becoming a full fledged midfielder this season and has breakout written all over him. Can the Lions be competitive enough for Beams to get enough points? It is possible.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 Paul Bower D Carlton Blues $0 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 74.5 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
61.00
% Ownership:
35.00
Comments: With Jamison and Duigan returning to play shutdown roles soon, Bower is a loose half back previously and will move to play on more user friendly opponents to score against. He can seriously score points chipping it around the backlines. (Case in point in Round 2). Job Security is an issue, but he could easily hold a 75 average this season with a bit of luck.
