2012 - Round 6 - Cash Cow Profit Trains
Thursday, 3rd May 2012
This Cash Cow Ranking Report is based on the Elite Sports News Projected Statistics.
Using a computerised formula Elite Sports News is able to generate a player points Projector for Dream Team & SuperCoach using a series of objective criteria against numerical historical data. Some of the objective criteria are short & long term form, strength of opponent & home/away short & long term form to name a few. These projections are estimated to be at least 20% more accurate than merely relying on season averages. (This is based on our 2011 projected results & the 2011 season averages in testing)
Elite Sports News has put no subjectivety into the rankings of these players. It is purely based on what the projection software thinks.
*The Projection software does not know about injury, pre-season form or role changes. Its a software program to make sure you never overlook anybody. It has no feelings or bias towards teams or players. Please use it as a research tool to come to your own conclusions, rather than use it as fact.
Disclaimer: We are unaware if these players will in fact be named in Round 3. It makes it very difficult to show this ranking report with any form of confidence without knowing if they will be named. However, hopefully this list can give you some insight into some of the players who have performed well over the first 2 Rounds.
When you read TAC Cup and NAB Under 18 AFL Championships results keep in mind that they only compete in 20 minutes quarter, which is far less than AFL time on the ground. We have a rule of thumb that you should add 1/3rd of their score on top of it to give a better gauge of how dominant they are in juniors.
*Please Note the '2012 Round 3 Price Rise' is formulated behind the projected statistics. This is merely a gauge & is not exact. A lot more goes into the pricing changes than a simple formula
*We encourage further discussion on the players. Please click on the View Comments and share your thoughts.
1 Jesse Stringer M Geelong Cats $104,200 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 57 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
79.00
Round 6 Projected Price Rise:
$71,633.50
Comments: Stringer has had serious troubles staying on the park over the past 2 seasons, suffering from hip and knee issues. Stringer plays across the wing, and is a small, tough midfielder who goes after the contested ball.
Cash Cow Proposition: Was Rookie Listed to begin the season, is taking every opportunity he gets with open arms. He has the right attitude, and at 21 years, with a past of injury proneness, he needs a strong season. Had a strong showing last week. |

2 James McDonald M Greater Western Sydney Giants $183,100 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 3
Season Average: 90.7 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
87.00
Round 6 Projected Price Rise:
$61,800.50
Comments: McDonald will be 35 this year, retiring with the Melbourne Demons in 2010. He only plans on playing for 1 year with Greater Western Sydney before taking up a full time coaching role. Fantasy owners need 6-7 games from him early on and we think he will get them. He played 251 games for Melbourne and captained the side from 2008 until retirement. He has been an All Australian, and won the clubs best & fairest twice. He can seriously score fantasy points. In 2010 before retirement he averaged 95 Dream Team points & 100 SuperCoach points a game.
McDonald is in great shape and has shown great scoring capabilities after his first price rise. We suggest although missing his first price rise, he is a terrific player to bring into your side, with a lot more profit coming your way. Cash Cow Potential: Not only can he fit in your midfield, but we think you can play him on the field. He was a terrific footballer and over his break he has continued his conditioning. He is currently averaging in the 90s. |

3 Lachie Neale M Fremantle Dockers $98,700 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 21.5 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
57.00
Round 6 Projected Price Rise:
$45,805.50
Comments: Neale is a small forward who harasses, chases and tackles. He played the last 7 games of 2011 for SANFL League side Glenelg. His work rate, winning the contested ball and kicking crumbing goals are what is going to put him into consideration for a spot in the Best 22 each week. Neale had been excellent in the pre-season, until his unfortunate ankle injury. Ross Lyon also had extremely positive things to say about him.
In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 20 possessions, 2 marks and 1 tackle, leaving him with 68 Dream Team points a game over the 5 game carnival. Neale also averaged 31.3 disposals per game at U18 level, so he can find the ball. Cash Cow Potential: His ankle injury had him returning in Round 4. He has played as the Sub in both games, but shows enough to suggest that if given a full game, he will score. |

4 Jack Crisp M Brisbane Lions $85,800 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 58 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
52.00
Round 6 Projected Price Rise:
$42,848.00
Comments: Crisp has shown in his juniors that he can play anywhere. A nice height at 190 cm, he is particularly dangerous to matchup on in the midfield. He has a strong mark, and his clearance work is solid. His main asset is his tackling. A ferocious tackler noted in his TAC Cup results last year averaging 7 tackles a game.
In the TAC Cup competition last year he won the Murray Bushrangers' Best & Fairest award. He was actually also a lot better than the statistics show in the U18 Championships, however, fantasy land does not care about the 1% things players do. At TAC Cup level last year he played in 12 games averaging 19 possessions, 4 marks and 7 tackles amassing him 90 Dream Team points a game. In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 11 possessions, 2 marks and 4 tackles leaving him with 66 Dream Team points a game playing in only 4 games over the 5 game carnival. Cash Cow Potential: Strong showing in first 2 games. Around the mark. |

5 Darren Pfeiffer F Port Adelaide Power $117,800 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 63 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
57.00
Round 6 Projected Price Rise:
$41,030.50
Comments: Pfeiffer is a mature aged recruit from Norwood, who has stepped up immediately after 2 games in the seniors. He plays across half back and also through the midfield. Pfeiffer will throw the kitchen sink at his last chance, as seen so far. Aged 24, he has been dropped from Carlton and Adelaide's list over his career. He made a return this year with an impressive performance at SANFL level last year. It has been clear in pre-season that he won't leave any stone unturned in his attempts to get an opportunity, throwing his body into every contest. He was recently elevated off the Rookie list.
Cash Cow Potential: On the senior list after being upgraded, he looks a solid Cash Cow option. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6 Shaun Edwards D Greater Western Sydney Giants $104,200 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2012 Games Played: 2
Season Average: 35.5 |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Projected Season Average:
34.00
Round 6 Projected Price Rise:
$15,991.00
Comments: Edwards is a fast moving rebounding defender who can also rotate through the midfield when needed. He has a strong set of skills and will develop into a very polished football player with some time.
Across his junior career, he didn't get a great deal of the ball but had strong efficiency and rebound stats, suggesting he may be a better SuperCoach player. Cash Cow Potential: Scoring so far does not suggest he is going to light the world on fire. |
