Pickups of the Week - Ultimate Footy (Round 10)
Tuesday, 29th May 2012
This is based on Ultimate Footy (Points Based) – Dream Team Scoring.
*Note – We discuss Ultimate Footy based on a Standard 10 Team League. (I.e. if a player is ranked 123, then he is a 12th Round Draft pick.)
The Projected Season Average is based on the Software Program. (We actually believe on many occasions, players will outperform this) It is purely objective. The Projection software does not know about injury, pre-season form or role changes. Its a software program to make sure you never overlook anybody. It has no feelings or bias towards teams or players. Please use it as a research tool to come to your own conclusions, rather than use it as fact.
Why are free agent pickups important?
Free Agents are basically Cash Cows for Ultimate Footy. By getting some strong Free Agent picks during the season, it sets you up for the finals and trade bait.
Will all of these Free Agent picks below turn into terrific value picks? No. Of course not. We are just trying to give you some ideas of players who may fit the build of being overlooked. This may help you come up with some good picks yourself.
Please Note: This is not in Free Agent potential order. It is in Projected Dream Team Average Scoring order.
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY PLAYERS OWNED IN LESS THAN 70% OF ULTIMATE FOOTY LEAGUES ARE LISTED BELOW IN PICKUPS OF THE WEEK
1 Dayne Zorko F/M Brisbane Lions $0 |

Projected Season Average:
89.00

Comments: Zorko looks likely to hold his spot at this early stage. He is a fierce competitor, who tackles and chases and does all the 1% things coaches love. As a mature aged recruit, he has a history at league level of scoring plenty of fantasy points. Worth a bench spot on your roster and monitor.

Projected Season Average:
88.00
% Ownership:

Comments: A risky proposition. He has not cemented a spot in the Best 22 and he has been targeted as a substitute in games. While he is playing, with a history of being a strong fantasy proposition, he deserves a bench backup spot.

Projected Season Average:

% Ownership:
53.00
Comments: We can't believe Hibberd is only owned in 53% of leagues. Did we not see him breaking out in the first 5 Rounds? It is just a soft tissue injury he has sustained and will return very soon. He plays for a dominant Top 3 side and has 85+ in a shallow defence written all over him.

Comments: Ellis is a very classy Defender who had a terrific season in 2010. In pre-season Clarkson was raving about Ellis being ready to have a career best season. Well that is unlikely but Hawthorn are having a rough time of it at the moment and Ellis must be so close to breaking back into the side from a calf injury. Talented but injury prone.

Comments: Armitage was said to have played his coming of age game on the weekend against Sydney in Round 9. He deserves a spot on your bench. He has upside.

Comments: We mentioned Wallis in our last write up and he is still only owned in half the leagues in Ultimate Footy, which we are amazed by. If anything he has proved himself over the past few weeks to be rosterable. His upside as we approach the end of the season is undeniable.
